Starbucks collaborates with world-renowned, multi-displinary artist Patrick Cabral for its Sarimanok merchandise

For the very first time, Starbucks Philippines recently collaborated with a local artist for their new set of merchandise. They partnered with the world-renowned, multi-disiplinary artist Patrick Cabral in a collection that draws inspiration from the Sarimanok, a mythical bird of the Maranao people from Mindanao.

I first learned about Cabral when I came across an article at the WWF website 2 years ago where they featured intricate paper sculptures of the world's most threatened or endangered species like tamarraw, rhino, sea turtle and iberian lynx. Cabral was also included in "New Strong", a regional campaign by Starbucks where he created a detailed sculptures of iconic animals that symbolizes some of the world's coffee-growing regions last 2018.

Cabral blends a cultural symbol with his maximalist style, creating an intricate and exuberant design. The combination of white, black and gold make this Sarimanok collections look very elegant. The merchandise is available in all stores starting tomorrow, June 9.
